HaiCo announcement: Unscripted by hyatt
Haida Gwaii, October 2026 — HaiCo is pleased to share that the franchise agreements have been signed for HaiCo’s Haida Tourism: Ocean House at Tlaga Gawtlaas and Haida House at Tllaal to join Unscripted by Hyatt.
This is an exciting step for Haida Tourism, but it does not change who we are or who owns our properties. Haida Laas, through the Council of the Haida Nation as HaiCo's Shareholder, continue to own Ocean House and Haida House. Our properties will maintain their own names, identity, and character, and will continue to reflect Xaadáa Gwáay | Xaayda Gwaay.yaay Haida Gwaii, Haida values, and the warm hospitality that makes them special.
Unscripted by Hyatt brings a wider network, experience, training, marketing support, and access to guests from around the world. This partnership will help more people discover our properties while allowing each property to remain unique and connected to place. We expect to have the same success as other First Nations that have had success with the Unscripted by Hyatt relationship, such as the Osoyoos Indian Band for the past six plus years with their Spirit Ridge Resort.
Unscripted by Hyatt is for unique hotels that do not fit a standard model. It allows Ocean House and Haida House to reach guests around the world while staying true to ourselves. Hyatt's presence will be supportive, so we can continue to tell our own story in our own way.
There will be no major change to our usual seasonal operations. Haida House Lodge will close this fall as planned, as it does each year, with a limited number of cabins remaining available. Ocean House will remain open through the winter. We are working toward adding dinner service at the Ocean House restaurant this winter. Improvements and preparations for next season will continue throughout the winter at both properties.
We are proud to take this next step in building strong, Haida-owned tourism businesses that create opportunities for our people and share Xaadáa Gwáay | Xaayda Gwaay.yaay Haida Gwaii with visitors in a respectful way.
Haw'aa│hawaa for your continued support.
