Ileah Mattice

Ileah Mattice is a long-time resident of Haida Gwaii, she is from the Michel First Nation of central Alberta. She was born in Sacramento California and moved to Haida Gwaii 22 years ago. Her parents are Natanis Laboucane and Alan Mattice and her late stepfather is John Hageman. Ileah currently lives in Masset with her partner Nathaniel. 

HaiCo welcomed Ileah Mattice to our team in February 2022, we are so grateful to have her as our Communications Assistant. She wasn’t a stranger to our Group of Companies; she spent several years working seasonally at Haida House prior to starting this position. In this role, Ileah began by supporting the 12-week hospitality and tourism training program hosted by HaiCo in Masset (please refer to this article for more details on the training program). Following the completion of this program, Ileah’s role shifted and now she is supporting the creation and administration of our communication efforts including social media posts, website administration, and community engagement and announcements for HaiCo and its Group of Companies.  

Over the last year Ileah has enthusiastically pursued training programs that management has offered, and she has also researched and registered for additional training to benefit her career growth. She has completed Jelly Academy’s Digital Marketing Bootcamp, an 8-week Destination BC Tourism Digital Academy for Marketing, and UBC’s Extended Learning Introduction to Copywriting. These training programs, in addition to the on-the-job training Ileah receives have supported her growth and development in communications and marketing.
