ASSISTANT FORESTER | TAAN FOREST

As Assistant Forester, you will report directly to the Operations Forest. Working in a team environment you will be responsible to plan and follow through with annual silviculture obligations, complete operational site plans and assist with higher level operational plans. You will work closely with operations staff and contractors and ensure silviculture and salvage contractors are adhering to Taan’s CMS. You will be based out of Taan’s Skidegate office requiring travel to Taan’s operations throughout Graham, Moresby and Louise Islands on Haida Gwaii.

HAIDA ARTIST | OCEAN HOUSE

For the 2019 Season, the Guest Artist program at Ocean House will provide opportunities for our visitors to learn about Haida art and culture, from demonstrations, lectures, watching an artist work, and informal conversation. The Artist who participates will stay at Ocean House for up to a week, and work in a beautiful and intimate setting while sharing their knowledge with visitors from around the world.

FISHING CAPTAIN | HAIDA WILD

Haida Wild requires the services of a Fish Boat Captain with significant experience fishing in the waters of Haida Gwaii. The position will entail overall responsibility for the operation of the MV “Ahab”, a freezer troller wholly owned by Haida Wild. In addition, during the 2018 season, the successful candidate will work with the former owner to learn how to care for and operate the various systems of the Ahab in relation to all things necessary to run the vessel. The boat is licensed to fish Area F salmon troll with tuna privileges with the goal of adding prawn and halibut licenses. Fishing compensation will be based on percentage of the value of the catch, plus annual remuneration for caring, repairing and maintaining the vessel in the off season.
