HaiCo will provide reasonable management practices that always consider the land, waters, life forms and culture in all enterprises. The corporation's activities ensure the condition, and the ability of the land and waters to function and provide for the long-term well being of the Haida people for generations to come.
HaiCo has sought and obtained third party assessment and verification of its operations being managed to internationally recognized certifications in forestry, tourism and seafood processing.
 


Our culture is born of respect, and intimacy with the land and sea and the air around us.
Like the forests, the roots of our people are intertwined such that the greatest troubles cannot overcome us.

GOAL 2 STRATEGY

HaiCo's active strategies  involve resource acquisition and management plans, integral to the sound stewardship of Haida Gwaii's local natural resource bases. This goal is achieved by continually seeking new opportunities to research and secure significant components of local tenures with the assistance of CHN, government as well as direct acquisition.
 
  • FSC® CERTIFIED WOOD PRODUCTS

    Taan Forest successfully achieved Forest Stewardship Council®, Forest Management Certification for all of its forestry and harvesting operations and Forest Stewardship Council, Chain of Custody for wood products manufacturing and sales.
  • OCEAN WISE APPROVED SEAFOOD PRODUCTS 

    All of Haida Wild's seafood products are Ocean Wise™ approved demonstrating a commitment to minimizing environmental impact extends to all aspects of our operation. 
  • GREEN TOURISM CERTIFICATION

    Westcoast Resorts and Haida House achieved Green Tourism Certificated (Silver level) in 2016. It offers credible, independent guidance to tourism businesses wishing to operate sustainably.
