SKILLS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR | HAICO

The Skills Development Coordinator (SDC) reports to the HR Manager, and will be given the opportunity to learn and develop human resource skills. In addition, the SDC will conduct and coordinate both needs assessment and delivery of skill building training initiatives and programs that help fulfill on-island needs and build capacity for the various business interests of HaiCo. FORESTER | TAAN FOREST

Reporting directly to the Operation Forester, safety will be your priority. Working in a team environment you will oversee harvest areas from planning to free growing. You will plan and follow through with annual silviculture obligations and complete operational site plans meeting strict Cultural, Environmental and Ecosystem Objectives of the Haida Gwaii Land Use Objectives Order and FSC® standards. You will work closely with operations staff (Harvesting and Roads) and supervise Forestry Assistants. You will work with contractors to ensure Taan CMS, budgetary concerns, and operational plans are being met. You will be based out of Taan’s Skidegate office requiring travel to Taan’s operations throughout Graham, Moresby and Louise Islands on Haida Gwaii.

FISHING CAPTAIN | HAIDA WILD

Haida Wild requires the services of a Fish Boat Captain with significant experience fishing in the waters of Haida Gwaii. The position will entail overall responsibility for the operation of the MV “Ahab”, a freezer troller wholly owned by Haida Wild. In addition, during the 2018 season, the successful candidate will work with the former owner to learn how to care for and operate the various systems of the Ahab in relation to all things necessary to run the vessel. The boat is licensed to fish Area F salmon troll with tuna privileges with the goal of adding prawn and halibut licenses. Fishing compensation will be based on percentage of the value of the catch, plus annual remuneration for caring, repairing and maintaining the vessel in the off season. Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant | HAICO

Haico’s new Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant will report to our CFO and ensure timely financial reporting, analysis, and accurate financial forecasts. Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis and supporting business performance through financial modelling, analytics and reporting, this position requires a personable, adaptable individual with strong time management, critical thinking and communications skills, and is capable of effectively communicating complex financial matters in lay terms. Holding at least a Masters degree in Business Administration, and registered in the Chartered Professional Accountants PEP, the successful candidate will have a strong academic record, coupled with experience. Preference in hiring will be given to qualified persons of Haida ancestry. This position will be a member of the finance team in our new North Vancouver on-reserve office.
